This month's REELness showcases realty work in Burlington, private school promotional work in Connecticut and biking over in New Hampshire featuring the first snowfall of the season. A lot in the works currently but doing my best to stay on top of these little vignettes to keep people up to date on the whirlwind of projects. Love to be busy!
Month 2 of my personal project which is to create a new reel every month featuring work from the highlighted month. July brought some great work and as usual it was all over the board. Some tech, fitness, beauty, music as well as some quality words from Bernie! Really enjoy putting these together so far.
Beautiful weekend on the waterfront with full on summer temperatures. Grace brought the energy and the good vibes were running wild.

"It was on. And I’m so glad it happened. I got to hang in the backcountry with some insanely-cool people that included filmmaker Scott Barber and iconic snowboard photographer Andrew Miller. And with Nick and Danny (who’re roommates) looking for options to find safe lines after the crazy storm that had just rolled through, their good friend Jeremy Jones offered to help out and come ride with us as well. Legendary humans, all of em’.
A nightmare scenario had turned into a dream trip. And as you can see from the film, we kind of scored. As with any complicated project, commitment is key. Or, as Ian would say, you gotta be, “all in.”" - Joe Carberry, The Inertia

I have been thinking about this project for a little bit now but it's been hard to commit.
1) To keep this going I need to make sure I shoot several projects a month that I am excited about. I’ve found in the past if I am not working I don’t go out and shoot nearly as much as I should. But that's got to change because shooting with my camera gets me stoked, so cheers to more shooting.
2) I haven’t updated my Reel since 2013 which isn’t great. A lot of my work doesn’t come from my Reel but sometimes it does and while I still enjoy my old Reel it's not smart not updating it. However updating a Reel has always been an annoyance to me. I like shooting different projects and a lot of them are small so I take a lot of pride in just having a well organized bank of my work rather than always adjusting my Reel. (www.scottbarberfilm.com) But cheers to changing that up.
3) I’m all over the place with my shooting. I know some people focus on one thing, I am definitely passionate about certain things but honestly if the people are rad/talented, and the set is beautiful I’m going to have a good time shooting and tell the story.
Social media does a good job keeping people informed with what I am up to but sometimes it doesn’t show everything. I want to be accessible to everyone that needs a filmmaker and I want my Reel to show that. So cheers to a wide array of work all the time and in your face. Cheers to Monthly Reelness.

Daowaga translates as "the shores of the lake" and is what Tahoe is referred to by the indigenous Washoe people. "Daowaga Daze" was filmed in seven days over President's Week. Due to long lift lines and resort closures the boys resorted to split boards, snowshoes and snowmobiles as their means to access the mountains. It's been an incredible winter in Tahoe, this is just a slice of it.
